How the Ideogram Came into Being

The ideogram emerged in a moment of complete stillness. Its form was the distillation of a long inner process of thought. Observations, experiences, images and connections had been maturing quietly until, at a certain moment, they condensed into a clear and simple form.

​

I remember lying in bed, thinking about Nikos Kazantzakis and George Zorbas while preparing the festival. By then, the form of the ideogram had become completely clear in my mind. I raised my hand and began tracing its lines in the air with my index finger, as though I were following a path that had already been drawn within my thoughts. I then got up and sketched it in my notebook. Through two further variations, I arrived at its final form.

That is how it came into being.

​

This process often repeats itself throughout my creative work. The image precedes its realization, emerging as the distillation of an inner synthesis that gradually takes shape before becoming visible.

​

Many of the cultural initiatives I design are born in the same way. When a place truly inspires me, I can already see the activities unfolding within it before they exist. Beyond the physical setting, I perceive the relationships that can grow between people, place, memory and experience.

​

The ideogram was one of those moments.

​

I experienced it as a trace. As something engraved in time. Like an ancient inscription. Like black ink on white paper, on a white pebble, on the white sail of a boat. An imprint that travels together with people, thought and life.

The Stoupa Ideogram is made available for use in the promotion, communication and presentation of activities related to the place, the project and its collaborating organizations.

All intellectual property and economic rights associated with the ideogram remain with its creator.

​

Whenever technically and practically possible, any use of the ideogram should be accompanied by the following attribution:

“Ideogram: conceived and created by Vasiliki Kateri”

The use of the ideogram does not imply the transfer of any intellectual property or economic rights related to the work.
