Collaboration Framework
The performance is an experiential theatrical work of narrative fiction, presented in natural or non-theatrical environments and based on live interaction with the audience, drawing on elements of interactive theatre practices.
The project is developed in collaboration with cultural associations, local communities, and regional institutions. Each presentation is shaped in relation to its hosting space and the specific characteristics of the inviting community.
The collaboration follows an agreed organizational framework, ensuring the quality of the artistic experience and meaningful audience engagement.

The performance unfolds in Greek, the language that carries the memory
of the place from which it emerges.

The Evolution of the Project
Following its previous cycles within the walls of the Castle of Ioannina, Pashahs in Ioannina enters a new phase of development and expansion. The narrative now unfolds toward the villages surrounding Lake Pamvotis, repositioning the experience within the broader landscape that gave birth to its stories.
The Castle remains a point of origin and return.
The Artistic Approach
The narrative roots of the project draw from Christina Tzialla’s literary work OUI, a contemporary lyrical fictional epic of place and collective memory.
Grounded in narrative fiction inspired by historical events, myths, and local legends, the performance approaches memory not as a static archive, but as a living and evolving field of interpretation.
All texts are original works by Christina Tzialla, the result of long-term research into the historical references and oral traditions of the region.
The New Edition
The new edition of the project is enriched by the introduction of Kamishibai, the traditional Japanese “paper theatre.”
Combining illustrated panels, live narration, and interaction, the site-specific performance creates a shared experiential space where memory, myth, and place converge.
Today, the expression “pasha in Ioannina” evokes a life of abundance and ease, echoing a way of living that shaped the city across the centuries.
The project operates under the auspices of institutional bodies, without implying financial support. KALLIERGON syn continues to develop its new form within the broader framework of the Pamvotis Lake Project.
