“The Story of Argyros from Drosochori”

at the Silversmithing Museum in Ioannina

As part of the “Ioannina Silversmithing Month 2026”, KALLIERGON syn participated with “The Story of Argyros from Drosochori”, an evening of storytelling for adults held on 30 May 2026 at the Silversmithing Museum in Ioannina, part of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation.

For the third consecutive year, the month of May was dedicated to the renowned tradition of Ioannina silversmithing, an art form deeply intertwined with the history and identity of the city. The initiative contributes to safeguarding this cultural heritage and passing it on to younger generations, while supporting local silversmiths and the living continuity of the tradition.

Within this context, “The Story of Argyros”, a boy from Drosochori, Ioannina, was brought to life through Kamishibai, the traditional Japanese form of “picture theatre”. Image and storytelling came together to unfold an original narrative connected to the art of Ioannina silversmithing and to the place in which this centuries-old tradition is deeply rooted.

The story was conceived and written by author Christina Tzialla, who also led and animated the performance, guiding the audience through the unfolding narrative. “The Story of Argyros from Drosochori” is included in her fourth book, “OUI: Tropaea ApoTropaea | Epic Fantasy Stories”, published by Aparsis Publications.

The performance also incorporated a specially recorded audio segment, featuring sound design by Arsen Kanatsis, narration by Olga Alexandropoulou and vocals by Anna Sergianiti. 

​

The evening attracted particularly strong interest and a warm response from the audience, creating a meaningful encounter between oral storytelling, image, contemporary creation and an art form deeply rooted in the cultural memory of Ioannina. 

​

The event was hosted by the Silversmithing Museum of Ioannina in collaboration with the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation. The contribution of the Museum’s Director, Kallirroi Fotiou, was particularly significant: she embraced the original concept and placed her trust in its realisation. The excellent collaboration with the Museum’s management and staff contributed substantially to the successful presentation and hosting of the event.

“The Story of Argyros from Drosochori”, along with other stories by Christina Tzialla, remains available for presentation at cultural venues and events as part of future collaborations.
